PRECONGRESS WORKSHOP (WS6): PROTECTING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES FROM TOBACCO: LEADERSHIP TRAINING

VENUE: ROOM 4, BORNEO CONVENTION CENTRE

TOTAL PARTICIPANTS: 40

Protecting Children and Families from Tobacco: Leadership Training is a collaborative effort between the American Academy of Pediatrics, the International Academy of Pediatrics, and the World Health Organization Tobacco Free Initiative.

Participants in this training will learn about child health and tobacco control and will join a growing international network of experts committed to engaging pediatricians in the fight to protect children and youth from tobacco and secondhand smoke. This training is designed to improve the effectiveness of tobacco control clinical interventions and policy advocacy, and to provide you with the knowledge, tools, and resources to more effectively collaborate with national tobacco control programs to create lasting positive changes.

Participants will develop tobacco prevention and control advocacy plans, commit to the next step in implementing these plans, and learn about and receive resources to better assist your efforts when you return home. Finally, the training will provide an opportunity to network with others who are interested in policy, system, and environmental changes leading to more effective tobacco prevention and control efforts for children and youth.

This training is partially supported by a grant to the American Academy of Pediatrics from the AAP Friends of Children fund, and by the WHO Western Pacific Regional Office Tobacco Free Initiative.
