PRECONGRESS WORKSHOP (WS5): TRAUMA IN CHILDHOOD

Trauma affect everyone in particular children are vulnerable to various form of trauma; physical and non physical. Children are more likely to die from an injury such as  a motor vehicle crash, fall etc..  Injuries are so common that we often accept them as just part of life. But injuries are not accidents. Injuries can be prevented, and their consequences can be reduced.  Seat belts for example have saved an estimated 255,000 lives between 1975 and 2008.

 

The objectives of this workshop is:

  1. To review the current state of trauma/injury among children world wide, developing countries and developed countries.
  2. To review the evidenced based programmes proven to prevent injuries in childhood.
  3. 3.To explore newer programmes on accident prevention
